According to Hindu belief, autumn belongs to the night-time of the Devtas(Hindu gods). So it’s the time of sleeping. Now if you want to worship God in this time, first you have to do ‘Bodhon’ (or awakening) to the deity.
In several Puranas and other Hindu scriptures it is mentioned that before the death of Ravana, Ram worshipped Devi Durga and prayed her blessings to defeat Ravana. Since autumn is not a ‘pure time’ to worship the Devi, the Puja(worship) by Rama in autumn is known as ‘Akal Bodhon’ ‘premature awakening’. But now Shardia Durga Puja is more prevalent.
